Sleepless In Macau

Slacked the entire day and played mahjong with Jasu, Linda and their friend, Nelson.

Ever since coming to Macau, I have been doing lesser of something that I absolutely love to do.

Talking.

Due to the language barrier and my own lack of confidence in my half-pail water Cantonese, I have become a pseudo-mute. Using gestures, nodding and minimal English and Mandarin to communicate most of the time.

The plus side, I realise, is that when you don't talk, you become more observant of people and what they are really trying to communicate, even if they are not saying it out loud.

It's pretty interesting.

And in the meantime, I think all the Cantonese going into my brain is latching on. i might be able to speak more confidently soon.
